This month our club topic was street photography which is definitely not something I do very often. I had hoped to get a chance to go to a nearby town during the 4th of July celebrations and take a few photos for the contest. Unfortunately it poured down rain every time I got a chance to go out and shoot. All of the nearby holiday fireworks displays were cancelled due to the weather. So much for my plans! We have had continuous rain over the last few weeks to the point that many of the local creeks are several feet above flood stage. As a result I ended up using an older photo that I took on a photo club trip last year.
We went downtown to see the jumping dog contest sponsored by Purina. They were having several different contests. This is a shot from the “Longest Jump” competition.
We also visited a historic Atlanta cemetery nearby. Margaret Mitchell, the author of “Gone With The Wind”, is buried here. Here is one of the shots I took there.
While we were at the Purina competition I wandered around to some of the nearby sites around Centennial Park and got the shot I used for the Monthly competition. I thought the expression on the woman’s face was interesting as she watched the man she was with taking different shots of the sculpture. Here is the shot –
The actual judging will take place on the 15th at our next meeting. Until next time —
