My wife and I recently joined the Atlanta Botanical Garden and we decided to spend a Saturday there. They were having and orchid exhibit and also had some Pop art exhibited. The weather was great and we enjoyed walking around even though very few things were in bloom. The orchids were great and were abundant in the indoor areas of the garden. We plan on making another trip there in the early spring once more things are in bloom. Meanwhile, I have posted a few pictures below from our visit.
I liked this shot because of the way the sunlight was hitting the plant behind the orchid.
As we were walking through the arboretum looking at the orchids , I noticed this little fern emerging from the rock.
I loved the color and the light coming through the petals on this orchid.
The little jewel below was all alone in an out of the way area away from the sidewalk.
There are several glass sculptures in the outdoor areas of the garden. I was intrigued by the flow of the glass tubes and the beautiful blue color of the one below.
There are fountains throughout the garden. I liked the sculptures behind the water in this one.
There are several areas where there are very large topiary animals such as the dog below which is at least ten feet tall.
As we were heading back to the car I saw a bunch of squirrels on the ground and decided to try to get a shot of one of them. Of course they all scampered away just as I got close enough to lift my camera up to get a picture. I finally got one as he crawled out on a limb close to where I was standing.
Until next time —
