Added contrast, burning , dodging and a vignette

Monthly Challenge – Glass

My photo club will be having our first competition for 2018 soon  and I thought I would show you the process I went through for the shot I will be entering. The topic will be “Glass” and I picked a shot I took in September at a multi club competition.

I decided to show you the steps I went through for the final image. First take a look at the original file.

Original color shot

I felt like there was too much going on in the shot so I cropped it and did some Lightroom edits. I did some dodging and burning and darkened down the background behind the glass.  I also decided to go black and white because there was a lot of texture and lines in the shot.

I felt like the composition was ok but the basic B&W was too bland and flat.  I took the shot into Silver Effex Pro and added some contrast and a vignette and increased the detail. Here is the final image –

What do you think?

Until next time —
