I got a chance to go to Gibbs Gardens this past Friday and had a great time looking at everything in bloom. Here are a few of the shots I took.
All of the Japanese Maples are in full color and loaded with the little seed pods that fall to the ground like little helicopters.
Red Helicopters
Lots of the trees are full of blooms or have put on all their new leaves.
Monet Bridge
I was surprised that the water lilies were already blooming. When I walked by the ponds in the morning there were pods sticking out of the water but they didn’t look like they were ready to bloom. I was walking out of the gardens on my way home when I realized they were opened up.
Colorful Reflections
The azaleas were in full bloom and I noticed this one and its reflection framed by the rock and the tree.
White Azaleas
I saw the reflection of this rock and thought it would make a nice black and white shot. What do you think?
Rock Reflection
The lily below was under some trees but the sun was coming through the leaves and spotlighting the bloom.
Yellow Beauty
The red one below was also touched by a small patch of sunlight.
In The Light
I didn’t notice the damsel fly on this bloom until I got home and was processing the shot.
Dragonfly Kiss
The mid-day sun was really bearing down when I shot the red lily below. It seemed to be opened wide just to soak in the sunshine.
Enjoying The Sun
I had a great time in the garden and visiting with some of my photo club friends. We are in a small group that gets together on Fridays and go to nearby locations to take in the scenery , take photographs, and have lunch together.
